Plucked from the bowels of New Jersey and dropped like a hot potato in Tennessee is the owner and sole baker of Damn Yankee Desserts; myself Jennifer M. At a young age I started to learn how to bake from all of the Italian and Sicilian women in my old neighborhood in Hudson County which molded how I bake to this very day. When I moved to Tennessee in 2017, I noticed there weren’t any desserts that I cared for that I enjoyed in New Jersey; such as cannolis, cheesecakes, chewy oatmeal cookies, Italian cream cakes, and Torta Setteveli. One day, as a thank you to my neighbors, I gave them a plain cheesecake and my infamous chewy oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies and from then on they were hooked. Down the line, via word of mouth, my neighbors raved to others about me and from then on I became that Damn Yankee who makes those desserts.
For each baked good and dessert only the best products are used regardless of cost. I always tell customers, "If you have any type of food allergy you might not be able to eat anything I make." *My baking instruments have been exposed to nut products in the past.*
The very first dessert I made money on was from using an old family recipe of an Italian Cream Puff at the age of 9.
